Way back yonder in the corn fields and cotton patches of Oklahoma, Raymond Corvin was taught by an honest father and a praying mother that the Bible is the Word of God. "Get an education," they said, "but keep the Bible in its rightful place. Prove all things. Hold fast to that which is good. Analyze all theories. Reject those theories which contradict the Bible. Accept those approved by it. Follow Christ--Do the will of God--Be faithful to the end and you shall be saved."
These teachings, along with the aid of genuine parental concern, sent Dr. Corvin on his way through Bible institutes, liberal arts colleges, theological seminaries, and state universities in his quest for an education. Dr. Corvin confessed that his parents and godly preachers were his greatest teachers, even though he studied under more than a hundred teachers and professors.
Before Dr. Corvin passed on to glory on November 21, 1981, he spent between 85,000 and 100,000 hours in studying, teaching, and being taught the Bible and related subjects.
On twenty-one occasions he directed seminars in Israel. Six times he graduated from reputable and accredited schools of higher education and earned two doctoral degrees: the Doctor of Religious Education from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and the Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oklahoma. Extensively he studied the theology of the Armenians, Presbyterians, Baptists, Lutherans, Catholics, and Pentecostals. His courses embrace the great 95% of the Bible as taught by the major theologies of Christendom.
